The policymakers have to address the institutional deficiencies of the financial systems through the Financial Sector Adjustment Program. This paper investigated the impacts of pre- reforms and post-reforms policies in the banking systems of Ghana and to determine whether those policies have helped to eradicate the problems that have hindered the effectiveness of the financial systems. The liberalization of Ghana__ampersandsign#39;s financial system has included the relaxation of interest rate control, exchange rate control, credit ceiling, partial privatization of the government__ampersandsign#39;s own banks, restructuring public sector banks, capital markets developments and deregulation of the prudential systems. The performance of the financial sector in Ghana has been substantial and healthy since the reforms. Thus, the financial liberalization strategy pursued in Ghana has been supportive of wider economic development.
