SOFTWARE PROJECT FAILURE DUE TO VARIOUS FACTORS OF SOFTWARE COST ESTIMATION - A REVIEW

Abstract:

There are various reasons for the possibility of software project failing like underestimation or overestimation of project cost, scheduling and quality issues, achievements of objectives, unrealistic expectations and assumptions, scope creep, poor input to estimate etc. Cost estimation for software project development is very important but critical issue because it can directly affect on success and failure of software projects. This paper aimed to study various reasons for failure of software project due to cost estimations. This study will help software development communities to identify the factors responsible for project failure, considering these factors in mind, it would be possible for them to avoid project failure and indirectly will increase the Possibility of project success.
