Abstract:
Labour health, safety and welfare are the measures of promoting the efficiency of labour. The various health, safety and welfare measures provided by the employer will have immediate impact on the health, physical and mental efficiency alertness, morale and overall efficiency of the worker and thereby contributing to the higher productivity.
It is well known that commitment, dedication, involvement and moral of the employees and workers has a positive effect on the productivity of the organization. Several experience and experiments starting from the Hawthrone studies have reinforced the conviction that is the people who make the difference ensuring the success or failure of the organization.
However, commitment, dedication, and motivation can never be bought. It is the primary task of the management to enthuse their workforce with these essential virtues. Health, safety and welfare have a very important place in this regard. Employee's morale has to be carefully nurtured and boosted by the management through efforts of improving Health, Safety and welfare measures.
All the companies give vital importance to these measures as they contribute to the growth and sustainability of the company. This paper highlights the health and welfare measures taken in a Pharmaceutical Company, the employees' satisfaction level, and to suggest improvements in the existing model.
The Data collection instrument was Questionnaire. In some cases personal interview was needed at the time of filling up of questionnaire. The collected data was analyzed using statistical analysis and the representation of the data is given in the form of simple pie charts.
