Author: Dr. Malika B. Mistry

Category: General Management

Abstract:

Role of leadership is very important in achieving success. It is very true in case of rural development. This hypothesis we will try to test with the help of development of two villages which have become model villages of & Commerce Maharashtra. Ralegan Siddhi, a draught-prone village in Maharashtra under the leadership of Anna Hazare has become a prosperous village. It was declared as the Pune Model Village of Maharashtra. Hivare Bazar, another drought-prone village, has also become a prosperous village under the leadership of Popatrao Pawar. Even this village was declared as another Model Village of Maharashtra. Popatrao Pawar is a disciple of Anna Hazare. In this paper, a humble attempt is made to document the role of leadership in this positive and unusual transformation from drought-prone poor villages into prosperous and model villages.
